The centerpiece artwork of the Big Ghosts show, from the Big Car Arts Collective, is Lafayette-based Anna Rae Landsman's "Hobo Ghosts." This mixed-media painting on paper depicts derailed boxcars and herds of ghosts rising up from them like bubbles against an aqua-blue backdrop. Equally playful and humorous are a series of plywood cutouts, painted with acrylic, entitled "Three Dead Cats (but, its ok)," by Indy-based Casey Roberts and Jessica Sowls. The found steel assemblage by Indy sculptor Todd Bracik entitled "Lincoln Eerie" fit perfectly into the theme of Zionsville's Seventh Annual GhostWalk, held on the night of Oct. 17. Indy painter Kyle Ragsdale's work corresponds thematically to some of the scary tales narrated during GhostWalk. "Mother Daughter I" consists of an oil portrait of a pair of ghosts against a twilight backdrop. The attention to period garb (from 1860-1880) and the authentic spookiness in Ragsdale's paintings recall some of the work of N.C. Wyeth and his grandson Jamie. A superb Big Car road show, all in all. Through Oct. 31; 317-873-6862, www.sullivanmunce.org.
