About Davis:
Mat Davis is a poet, performing artist, and curator who has been active in the Indy arts community for more than a decade. Mat is particularly known for all age performing events in the Near Eastside, Fountain Square, and Downtown Indy. He is the organizer and emcee of And Sometimes Y, a monthly poetry open mic at the Chatterbox Jazz Club inspired by Etheridge Knight’s Free Peoples’ Poetry Workshops that draws together some of Etheridge’s original Free Singers group with poets of subsequent generations for mutual listening and supportive critique.

NIGHTJAR creates an inclusive space for all by bringing together spoken-word performers and page-based poets writing in narrative, lyric, and experimental forms. Every third Wednesday, C.S. Carrier and Michelle Niemann host a reading and invite audience members to share their own poetic responses.
