Shelley Selim: The Women of Bauhaus Discussion
May 15, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeIn commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus art school, join curator Shelley Selim and learn more about the trailblazing women of this famously influential academy. While often overshadowed by their male counterparts, recent renewed interest has brought to light the female students and teachers of the Bauhaus and their incredible contributions to the Modernist movement.
Shelley Selim is Associate Curator of Design and Decorative Arts at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. She provides curatorial oversight of the museum’s design and decorative art collections, as well as its two historic homes—the Lilly House and the Miller House and Garden. Her recent projects include Meadow, an interactive installation by artists Studio Drift now on display at the IMA’s Efroymson Entrance Pavillion, and a reinstallation of the IMA’s Design Gallery—the largest permanent collection gallery devoted to modern and contemporary design of any museum in the country.
