About Selm
Bill Selm is an Indianapolis-based architectural historian and fifth-generation German-American. Selm is an instructor at IUPUI and former historian for the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission. For the historic district surrounding Monument Circle, he prepared the nomination that resulted in its listing on the National Register of Historic Places. In the early 1990s, Selm was a key figure in the crusade to save the Athenaeum, which by then had declined dramatically. Selm continues to teach, explore, and advocate for historic places and preservation.
