Continuing the work of the 2014 Hope Murals project, Big Car’s Design for Good program has remained engaged with Eli Lilly & Co.’s Oncology on Canvas program in a fee-for-service partnership as the project has transitioned its focus from large public outdoor murals to canvases designed to engage individuals and smaller groups.
We are excited to be a part of this transition, as the more portable color-by-numbers canvases (adapted from original works of art created by cancer patients and their caregivers) can reach many more people, especially people who are too sick to engage with the public at large. We worked with the LOOC team and coordinated with numerous local and national art equipment suppliers to design and manufacture custom, self-contained painting kits that can be shipped and used anywhere in the world.
We think this is a wonderful project and are proud to help bring art to people bravely navigating such difficult times. Much of the work assembling and mass-producing these kits has taken place right in our very own Tube Factory, and we think it’s also worth mentioning that Lilly and Co. has made it a priority to source this project locally.
