In 2013, the Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation approached Big Car about designing and building a garden with ingredients for creative home brewing: hops, wheat, sage, bee balm, even pumpkin. On an empty residential lot at 3151 N. Park Avenue, we designed a pocket park not only for growing plants, but also for gathering and connecting with neighbors.
That spring, volunteers from Marian University help till the soil. In the fall, a group from Wabash College built poles for vines to climb. Upland Brewing and Gardens of Growth lent a hand, too.
